The 2025 Color Photography Contest has unveiled its 14 vibrant category winners, showcasing a stunning array of imagery that captures the power and emotion of color in photography. Hosted by the 1839 Awards, the annual competition honors artists who push the creative boundaries of color photography across genres such as animals, architecture, landscapes, people, and photojournalism. This year’s winners stood out among thousands of entries for their bold palettes, storytelling depth, and ability to evoke visceral emotional responses through masterful use of color.
An esteemed panel of judges from renowned institutions like the Whitney Museum of American Art, Phaidon Press, Vanity Fair, and Christie’s selected the standout works. The judges noted that the top images challenged perceptions and transported viewers into new visual worlds.
In addition to the 14 category winners, the contest also recognized three professional and three non-professional overall winners, further celebrating the global diversity and artistic excellence found in contemporary color photography.
